I was discriminated against

Asalamu Alaikum,

It's late right now but I wanted to post what happened today.

Basically, some discrimination occurred.

(Okay okay, it was actually an ignorant comment, but lemme vent)

And I couldn't do anything about it.

Let's backtrack shall we?

During lunch at school, my misadventure buddy and I were headed to the office (oh that reminds me about my good news post... well that's now delayed) and a group of girls were apparently laughing and as such, I couldn't have cared less because... well, do I know them?

Then one of them stepped out of the group and went
"Are you Egyptian?"
"Do you dance like tthissss?" And did that stupid sideways walk, you know the one we believed Ancient Egyptians walked like?

I thought they were talking to a another group of girls passing by and thought "
Wow those girls are beeyoches, poor girls"

Misadventure buddy tried to point out to me that they were talking to
us. But I was busy fiddling with my phone and didn't hear her. We kept walking and one of them followed us. I didn't notice until halfway and turned around.

She laughed and walked away.

Then I turned around and asked my friend "Was that to us?"
It took a couple of minutes to sink in and then....

I was PISSED.

Now if I didn't fear for my life or getting suspended I would have gave them a piece of my mind AND maybe opened a can of Whoop A (oh wait it's Ramadan nvm)

But I'm so non-confrontational (no idea where that post is) but I can't stop thinking about it.

It's never happened to me before. I've never been made fun of my hijab, or skin color (at least where I've never fought back) and to think that I was so clueless angers me.

I guess I'm experience what hundreds of Muslimahs face each day, even if technically this is a 'minor incident' but it's not minor to ME.

The worst part is that non-muslims DON'T get it. At least my friends don't.
"Get over it."
"Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill."
"Fight fight fight!"

I'm not depressed, I'm not going to resign myself to my bedroom because of those ignorant idiots.
I'm just angry, and because I can't 'do' anything about it but maybe I can become an activist or something.

-sigh- I need to go to bed.

And think about revenge.
(okay not really)

Take care you guys

I am sorry love. Make dua as you were oppressed and the dua of the oppressed is answered. Anytime someone does something stupid I make dua as It is free dua me. :) InshaAllah when we make it to the hereafter we will be in thrones looking down at the very people who made us miserable while we will be ok. (I have to find the hadith if anyone knows it please post it) jazakaAllah khayran

You have every right to be mad! What if those girls were dogging on Jews or Black people? Their heads would be rolling right now!

I say report them and report the racism ('cause that's what it is. They were trashing Egyptians as well as Muslims) and the anti-Islamic nonsense. Those particular girls might not get in trouble personally but your school (or work? Where did this happen?) has a duty to act, to warn everyone else to not engage in that crap!

May Allah sustain you, And Keep you Patient Ameen.

This is what Ignorance looks like And they Think it surposed to shake us or even break us. but Keep in mind your relying upon Allah ,for whom do they Rely. Be confident in who you are and pay them any Mind. Plus i'm Married to an Egyptian there Far from Moving like that lol. But this is There Level of knowledge thats why they stereotype they don't know any better. May Allah Guide them to Al Islam. Ameen

Next sis what do you expect from the Kuffriyoon . I hope Not Wisdom?

I'm sorry to hear this :(
I think you should report those girls. If you don't they may do it again and think they can continue to get away with that ignorant behavior.

I wouldn't really call that discrimination. More like experiencing an ignorant remark. They weren't attacking or belittling you because of a specific cause, they were just being stupid. You can't let such things upset you, especially since you didn't even hear the direct remark. BUT that doesn't mean you just "let it go". Remember its not what you say its how you say it. They may never be approached by another Muslim again IF you act how you want to act in that moment you're proving them right.

Ask Allah (swt) for an increase in patience and sincerity and ask them to check themselves.

I'm so non confrontational too. When my friends and I went to NY, these group of guys made some reeally RUDE and nasty remarks towards us, and I think that was the first time I experienced something like that. I was so shocked and upset by it.
