Who thinks that high heels look like walking death traps?
I mean seriously... I can't STAND heels
Even if I am 5"8 and have no use of them, I don't know why we subject ourselves to them.
And I'm not going to be using hadiths or even going at it through a religious angle (although some could)
HEELS ARE SCARY AND DAMAGING.
My honest opinion :P I mean, don't we know the damage it does to our legs?
But I'm not going to lie. I have a pair in my closet at the moment waiting to be worn for an event next week.
And I'm not anticipating it at all.
Speaking of death traps...
may I present,
the modern corset?
I really don't understand why we, as women, put ourselves through this. It doesn't matter if it's 'cute' or 'no pain no gain' wtf? I won't sacrifice my right to breath correctly and correct posture for the sake of fashion!
Although I think these are stupid, eh, to each her own.

I totally agree! The only heels I wear are about an inch and a half, and I don't wear them every day. High heels are so hard to walk in, and my whole body is in pain after a few hours.
There is no reason why we can't be stylish and comfortable!
I wear heels but not death traps. Haha I'm pretty short (only 5 foot 4 in.) so I don't look like a tower but yeah. My heels are highish, i think my tallest is maybe 3 inches and its not a skinny little thing. And the "modern corset" is just stupid. And what I hate it that everyone has to have one which makes me feel inferior even though I don't want the figure hugging belt things.
I'm 5'2.5" *and yes, that half makes a difference* and I only wear flats. Heels are just too painful and I have that Morton's neuroma from when I was in high school.
I must say though, I love corsets. Not the whalebone type, but the fredericks ones with the really nice boning. They're more comfortable and they help with back problems for those of us who are...errr..bustier. (Fredericks apparently also gets a lot of male clientele who have chronic back pain; they custom-lace the corsets whenever you need it, so it's really good for back patients.)
i only wear trainers or flats. or i'll buy trainers that look like flat shoes.
i cant stand heels.
but corsets are sexy. i'd wear one to feel good about myself because i find them comfortable too, but that's about it.
f--k that shit. if I was gonna wear high heels, I prefer Lolita-style or Mary Jane platform shoes.
I'm happy with my Doc Martens and old high top sneakers.
As I was saying over on Ange's blog the other day, I wear black running shoes with almost everything. I just don't care! I'm also on the taller side though 5'7'' so that may have something to do with it.
I love the look of heels, honestly. I don't wear them regularly, but I have a pair I like to wear every once in a while. They aren't very high or pointy because I simply can't walk in those, and I'm tall enough just barefoot (5'9"). But I feel they give a little oomf to certain outfits that makes me feel good and confident, and they're plenty comfortable and nothing I need to "tolerate".
I don't like wearing them but I'm only 5'0 so I don't really have a choice especially when my kid cousins are taller than me lol.
This is sooo true! I'm guilty of wearing them regularly in the past. But stopped wearing once I learn how damaging they truly are.
Alhamduilliah, I'm 5'6 so I don't really need the height really. Though, it nice to be 5'7-5'9 depending on the heel. I just wear kitten heels (or wedges when I know I won't be walking around much or be standing all day ... like when Oprah wears crazy heels while she is talking in her show lol)
Those types of belts never fit me. They're basically made for more curvier or full breasted women. The whole point is to accentuate the chest and get the hour-glass look. I'm just to thin for it.
salams
im obviously the shortest woman around here for miles, 4 foot 5 in. the only time i wore high heels: i can count on my finger: eid al fitr, graduation, eid al adha party, and in the store when i bought them. they are in my closet now, never to be worn again. yes, no one sees me ever, but it will take more than being a midget to wear knives on the beautiful feet god gave me (not describing anything here, anything god makes is beautiful)
And I thought I am the shortest! Never known a blogger shorter than 5' But anyway, I also have heels which I wear only to special function a few times in a year. For my everyday wear I have a few 2.5" wedges which actually is flat except that it has thick heels. It's comfortable and light and I feel like wearing a normal flat shoes.
