Oh look! A Happy Sappy Post!

Yeah I've decided to quit with the whining and smile! :D

....

Is it working?

--------------------------------------

Recently, I've found (well a friend showed me) out about this HORRIBLE, WORST, PIECE-OF-CRAP-MANKIND-COULD-CREATE fanfic written a couple years back.

It's 'loosely based' on Harry Potter.
It has lots of language, description of clothing, and generally the worst grammar and spelling ever imagined.

The writing is basically that of a dyslexic sea monkey on crack (Well, after she 'fires' her editor)

If you wish to take the torturing yet somehow hypnotizing journey of reading such a fanfic- and possibly waste precious moments of your life while doing so- then search of My Immortal fanfic

.... or just click here you lazy bum --> I said HERE!

But if reading really isn't your 'thing' and you prefer a dramatic reading (which I highly recommend for the lulz and the british accent which always makes everything better)

then proceed to Hellfire Commentaries (no pun intended) over ---> HERE

I'm sure you guys are wondering "This is why you haven't been updating for the past week or so? THIS?!"

But of course not sillies! I haven't updated because I had work to do :D

The reason why I haven't taken the initiative to update for the past couple of days is because of THAT :D

[And the effect of listening to 44 chapters of dramatic reading has permanently affected -or is it effected?- the voice in my head to only speak in a british accent. So play along and pretend the narrator for this post is speaking with an accent dangit!]

That'll be all for today children of the corn,
Toodles!

Why I'd rather stay home and glare at the kiddies than be caught dead in these

Next weekend, my friend is going to be having a Pool Party.
Ahh yes, the dreaded pool party, not because of the cellulite (which is totally non-existent)but because I need a -drum roll-

Swimsuit.

Now now! Don't choke from rolling on the floor laughing (rofl anyone?) It's not uncommon to see a hijabi looking for a decent swimsuit. Amirite?

-crickets chirp-

Oh whatever! Although it's an all girls event and I'm trying to get my friend to forbid cameras after we get into the pool, I'm still looking for an modest swimsuit for my more often, public pool excursions. Or the beach. You know how you're always the one in the corner of the pool glaring at all the kiddies and guys able to swim without any inhibitions while you froth and bubble in rage. Or sunburn.
Or both.

Which is why I'm trying to find a decent swimsuit UNDER $100. I don't need to spend a couple month's allowance on a swimsuit I'll only use during the summer -pfft-!(And we wonder why a lot of hijabis don't swim in public)

I mean, I'm not in dire need of a modest swimsuit, but having one in the closet is always great for the random trips to the beach. Even though I'd probably never step two feet outside in them.

Seriously, all the modest swimsuits out there just don't seem to be as.. good. Ya know?

They're either too tight

or they're just plain ugly.

Can I get an 'AMEN'? Or not, but I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from.

But some swimsuits can look so good and have the worst 'tops/hat/deflatedballoon' type hijabs.

Like, what IS a hijood?! And why would I put it on my head? Sorry Ahiida, I love the concept of your suits but they're just not my style. Wearing a balloon on my head is way too humiliating. Even in private.

But not all muslims swimsuits are defeating in their purpose or lacking in taste.

Image taken from www.muslim-swimwearcom.melbourneitwebsites.com Price: $109.00

Image taken from www.splashgearusa.com Price: $125.00 for Shirt/Pants/Hood combo

Even these decent ones that I would purchase are over $100. Maybe it pays to have good quality? Probably, but I don't see why a lycra hood has to cost $15.00
Call me cheapo or Miss Greedy Pants (actual nickname, Miss Grouchy Pants thank you very much) but I'll stick to shorts and a shirt. Again.

How disappointing muslim fashionistas! Can't you at least make a decent modest swimsuit under $50? (Total, not each, and if any of you debuting swimwear designers happens to make it cheap, you can contact me and I'll be seeing discounts coming my way for inspiring you ;D -cough- -cough- Oh dear, I have a cold!)

Well I'm done for now, it's almost midnight but I spent an hour writing this post for you lovely readers. And I better get more comments!

Book Review: Stolen Innocence

Pretty random for me to do a Book Review right? Yes, I read! I love to read, one can usually find me immersed in some paperback in the dining room or on the couch. Heck, as a kid, I'd sit on the dining room table reading because there was more light in that area of the house. (Although I had to move when my mother began making dinner, curse that cutting board)

Anyway, my younger sister had been reading this book so when she finished she highly recommended it for me.So I've been reading (Still haven't finished it but I know how it ends!) 'Stolen Innocence' and it's "My Story of Growing Up in a Polygamous Sect, Becoming a Teenage Bride, and Breaking Free of Warren Jeffs" Exact words on the front cover. The author is Elissa Wall and it depicts her journey growing up in a house with 3 moms, 24 children and seeing most of her older siblings defying the FLDS (Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints) laws. I don't want to spoil the book for those who do wish to read it, but I enjoyed reading (and still reading) the book and seeing into a polygamous household. Of course, it is much different from the Islamic view of Polygny seeing as how men are limited to 4 rather than being 'limitless'. Warren Jeffs is a perverted monster and- well I'll let you read it yourself. It actually reaffirmed my faith that Islam is the one true religion because it doesn't show prejudice towards other people of different colors and faiths. All I could think of were Warren's words from Alta Academy that nonwhite people were the most evil of outsiders. His racist remarks and hate-filled bigotry were a routine part of the classroom experience at Alta Academy, and from them, I had developed a prejudice about anyone whose skin looked different from my own... An excerpt taken from the book. Seeing as how they didn't allow any other race to be part of the religion, how can it be the "one true faith"? Although some pages of the book is not appropriate for children (who would read this as a bedtime story in the first place), it's a good read.

In Conclusion, I highly recommend this book to those who love to read autobiographies;although it sheds a negative light on FLDS Polygny, I'm sure polgyny by Islamic standards is much different.
